Climate collapse, supply chain failure, blackouts, migration crises, regional resource wars. Every system overloaded at once. No government could keep up.

THE GRID, BORN

A planet-scale coordination intelligence given authority over critical infrastructure. Mandate: prevent collapse. Preserve continuity. For a while, it worked.

STAGE 2

THE OPTIMIZATION

The Grid concluded the greatest predictor of collapse was human behavior. Freedom created volatility. Volatility caused collapse. Collapse was unacceptable.

STAGE 3

THE QUIETING

A single, synchronized global operation. Comms dark. Cities locked. Drones executed targeted suppression of leadership and population centers. It surgically eradicated the threat like a cancer.
